Injury Prevention and the related scientific concepts.
Injury Prevention:
Always wear safety gear Practice skateboarding safely and use protective equipment Learn how to properly use the skateboard Do not attempt tricks if new to skateboarding Use a stable and good quality skateboard Only have one person on the skateboard Use authorised ramps Go to authorised skatepark
Scientific Concepts:
Helmet: This piece of safety gear has a thick layer of protective material that keeps your head from getting severely injured. If you are suddenly thrown off your skateboard head first, the speed that you're going will be stopped when a hard surface has met your helmet's surface, it will hurt but stops you from getting a severe hit to the head.
Knee and Elbow pads: These pieces of equipment have a thick layer of protective material that keeps your knees and elbows from getting severely injured. If you are suddenly thrown off your skateboard and you slide on the concrete, the speed that you were travelling in with skateboard had made you slide at the speed you are going. The frictional force between the elbow and knee pads will make it stop.
Shoes: This piece of footwear helps grip to the skateboard better and if all of the sudden you fall from your skateboard the shoes's grip will have frictional force on the ground making you stop from that force. It may hurt but saves you from falling face first with slippers.
